We had our annual Halloween party early this year at work so everyone could attend – today several of us are in San Diego at a show – poor things. So we had a great time on Tuesday acting out Vampire Empire – a kind of treasure hunt for Vampire clues. And the team who found all our clues first, garlic, a crucifix, a bat, and a vial of blood got the do the honors of driving a stake through Nosferatu’s heart (AKA Rob;). R did a great job and even fought back as they were trying to kill him. Pretty funny stuff!

Halloween Party
Today is our annual Halloween party put on by River an I. Our theme is Vampire Empire and I am pleased to say lots of people dressed up for it this time. Yeah! We will be having food delivered soon and then the games begin! People will be running all over the place looking for clues to gather up to earn the stake that will kill the master vampire, Nosfreatu – (AKA Rob;) It’s kind of complicated but lots of fun. I am sitting at my desk with two bite marks on my neck and blood dripping from my mouth. I feel pretty today;)
Voting Early
R and I always have to vote absentee ballot as there is no voting precinct for us because we live in the middle of nowhere. We don’t really live in the middle of nowhere, the registrar of voters just thinks we do;) So I sent my ballot in two weeks ago! Yipee! I’m done and now I just can’t wait for this whole messy, bloody campaign to be over with and whoever wins gets back to the job of FIXING this mess that the last 8 years of Bush crap has brought upon us. So many businesses have been hit very heavily by this recession. I know a business owner that has had to cut his one employees time in half. Very hard for everyone involved. Cash flow is down, people can’t or don’t pay their bills… it’s a very scary time.
I personally, within the confines of my work, have not seen a change – yet. I’m sure it will happen eventually. It’s bound to. We were trying to think of ways to not spend so much money on silly stuff and well, sniff, I cancelled all my wine club memberships. It was great while it lasted but just a little too extravagant at this time. Boo hoo, I will still go tasting when friends visit though;) And maybe someday join again. I would rather give money to a special charity than just drink it all away anyway. Priorities you know;)
The SNL Parodies
We watched Saturday Night Live this last weekend to see the spoof the Sarah Palin was supposed to be making of herself and Tina Fey – wasn’t really that funny – I couldn’t even remember it and had to watch it on You Tube again. Not very funny at all and kind of disappointing. Poop. The other ones have alll been so great.
Not much to tell…
Not much happening these last couple of days. Lemon Drop continues to improve, George is still a bastard, Pixel is a fatty and Chelsea is unfortunately at the bottom of the pack now. I think she probably liked it better when she was an only child;)
I’ve been reading a few blogs lately and fell upon this one – supposedly written by an 82 year old woman. She dislikes Sarah Palin even more than I do, and that’s saying something! Really entertaining reading. For all the nastiness and greed of politics you gotta admit it can be very entertaining at times.
Jaffray called today and said she got 100% on her math midterm. Wow! That’s fantastic! Rob and I are very impressed and proud of her. Getting 100% on a math test is something I doubt I ever did. Go Jaff!
Pretty Scary!
Last night when we were driving home from CCI puppy class we almost got in a car wreck. As we were driving on Highway 101 we went under an overpass that two police cars were racing across to get on the freeway. We drove on leaving them behind but then suddenly on our right side, a blue car going at least 90 mph passed us on the shoulder, swerved to avoid hitting and narrowly missed the car in front of us, lost control and ended up in the middle of the ivy in the middle of the freeway. The man inside jumped out and took off running across the highway 12 off ramp. Two police cars were right behind him – they passed us on the shoulder and narrowly missed us, just inches away. They pulled over, jumped out of their cars and took off chasing the guy on foot across the on ramp of highway 12 into the night. The guy was wearing a white T-shirt so I hoped he would be easily visible to the police. We were all at a stop on the freeway for a few seconds while this scene was unfolding. Crazy. It all happened so fast. There was no where for Rob to steer us to safety – we had cops on our right and an out of control crashed car ahead and someone on our left. It was kind of surreal. So this morning I saw this in the paper and now I know that printed words do not do justice to this bizarre incident. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life. If that guy had hit anyone at the speed he was going it would have been a totally different outcome and it would not have been good.
I’m glad the police dog bit him. Serves him right.
Short Weekends
Had a busy weekend, wow they are just too dang short! The weather is beautiful today – a perfect fall day. It was foggy this morning and now clear and sunny – not hot, just right and here I sit INSIDE my office. Must resolve to go on a long walk when I get home tonight. Not too many more of these great days ahead.
Finally – it’s Raining!
Thank goodness – the rains are finally here. It’s been a long dry summer and we need this badly. Sorry for some of those grape growers though, hope they avoid the bunchrot.
