Well I’m back from Chickfest – so hard to return to the cold hard reality of work, work, work;) We always have such a great time. We were missing a few of the Chicks but hopefully they will all be attending next April. I am not allowed to talk about much that goes on at Chickfest – suffice it to say what happens at Chickfest, stays in Chickfest. All those rituals you know;) I will share one pic though of me, not my partners in crime.

Chickfest is Fun!!!!
I was having a blast. Girlfriends are the best.

I got an email yesterday from David Fuller the author of one of the best books (Sweetsmoke) I have ever read. He said he was going to be in Petaluma and at the Sant Rosa Copperfields tomorrow afternoon. But I don’t know what time. So being the super sleuth (ha;) that I am I called Copperfields up to see what time they might be expecting him. They didn’t know about it! Yikes. Hopefully I helped out though as I was able to give the Events Coordinator his email address and maybe things will get scheduled correctly now. I’d really like to meet him and thank him for such a great story. That book was the BEST.
Looking forward to Chickfest this Thursday, Friday and Saturday! Time to unwind in Bodega Bay with the chicklets and just have some fun. We always try to stay in the same place, Cliff Cottage. We love that place. We do exciting things like walk on the beach, knit, drink, eat, drink, knit etc. Very screaming wild;) Unfortunately I burned my hand rather badly last night – DUMB! – so will have to see if I’m up for much knitting.
And of course to shake David Fullers hand if possible!

I am so pleased. I woke up this morning without that black cloud of political dread over my head. This country finally did something right and will hopefully continue to do so. It’s hard to be a moderate – you can identify with both sides, they both have some good ideas. However this time around it was clear that there needed to be a change – a huge change. And people finally had the guts to do it.
R and I watched the acceptance speech last night. We missed most of the returns because we were at puppy class, but I gotta say, as much as I hate politics and pretty much avoid listening to anything politicians have to say (I read, can’t stand to watch) I was moved. I was impressed with his message. R and I actually had tears in our eyes – shocking – especially for me. I said – “This is better than the Olympics. This is history and we are watching it live. I really feel like I’m being included in something hugely important for once.” I felt proud, maybe this country can actually pull itself back together with this new leadership. It’s not a bunch of old white men in Washington any more. Yes. I also thought McCain’s concession speech was very gracious and fair. He’s a decent kind of guy – but he had the same old message – and of course that crazy for his VP. Ugh.
Good luck Mr. President, most of us are behind you, but you are going to have to work your ass off. Not a job for the timid or weak. God’s speed.
And might I just add – THANK GOD SARAH PALIN IS GOING HOME TO BE A GRANDMOTHER!!! Don’t let the screen door hit you in the ass!

Heck of a lot of rain today! Finally. At times it seemed like someone was throwing buckets full, BIG buckets full of water at my window, Even Betsy couldn’t take her eyes off of the window! What makes me crazy though is that every fall they come and wash our windows… right before the rains start – where is the logic in that? they were just here last Tuesday for God’s sakes. What a waste of money not to mention time. Oh brother.
Well tomorrow is the big day. Glad I voted 3 weeks ago. If that Palin person becomes VP I am just going to give up on this poor country. Vote for the better man, Obama.
