Betsy has been Chosen!

We just got news that Betsy our beloved CCI puppy that we turned in last May has been chosen for team training! This means she will be a possible match for a disabled person within the next two weeks. Wonderful! If she doesn’t get matched this time she probably will next time. We are very proud, very happy and of course very sad:( We miss her. She is a wonderful dog and she will make a great companion to someone who really needs her. Go Betsy!

Where did the weekend go?????

Well the weekend has come and gone and I don’t feel like I got a break anywhere in there at all… Rob had a class at the Northcoast Air all Saturday. I did chore after chore after chore… ugh. Caught up on laundry at least. Sunday we went down to Walnut Creek to repair the side garage door that Elkie in one of her several panic attacks managed too destroy. (We counted up and tallied that this is the fifth door she has tred to kill) It took allllllll day in the 97º garage, hot!. But thank goodness it’s now done now and at least the racoons can’t get in to steal catfood. Rob did a great job. We did not get home till midnight, took showers to get the salt/sweat off and went to bed. Now if only I could have slept. I am such a light sleeper and Rob is not, I am soooo jealous. I would be a different person if I could sleep as well as he does! I was awake most the night due to cats running all over and sounds that woke me despite the ear plugs. I am very, tired today and ready for a nap. New rule at home. No cats in the bedroom – EVER AGAIN. Those little night gremlins;)

Just Got Betsy’s Latest Report Card – not so good:(

Stupid People and Their Dogs II

Last Thursday I took the dogs for a walk down our road. That stupid dog was loose again and followed us for almost half a mile! The owners are just complete morons. I went in to the Animal Control office on Friday and turned them in again. it just makes me livid to see someone disregard not only the law, but basic common sense. You don’t let animals run free! I don’t even want to go down the road again until I know that they have been contacted and fined/warned again. ARGGGHHH!

Sucks To Be Me Right Now!!!

Here’s what my weekend was like – Went to a memorial service for our dear friend and neighbor George, went to Walnut Creek to help out my mom, got home and tried to do a few chores Sunday afternoon. Yesterday evening I drove down the driveway with the gator to pick up the citrus trees which were dying from neglect in the garden. On the way back the gator ran out of gas going up the driveway. I filled it up with the fuel Rob had under the carport and  flooded the motor so I left it for a few minutes and went back to the house. OBVIOUSLY I did not set the parking brake correctly and it rolled down the hill through the fence into the garden and so far I can not get it started to get it out. Fence is ruined and I’m sure the deer will be in there cleaning up. Ariel has been really sick. She is on straight boiled chicken diet – no kibble as she just throws it up and the diarrhea is the worst I’ve ever seen. Robs only been gone 5 days!!!!!!! Don’t know what else can go wrong but I’m sure something will;) Sucks to be me right now, that’s for sure.

The stress level is climbing…

The stress level is ramping up a bit. My poor Mom is scheduled for surgery to replace a damamged heart valve this Thursday, the company picnic is at the ranch this Friday and Elkie has severe bloody diarrhea and won’t eat a thing. We think this might be her last few days with us. She has pulled through before from garbage gut, but this is the second episode and it’s pretty severe. I’m very worried about my Mom. I understand valve replacement is a very common operation these days, but still. It is scary for all of us. Love you Mom. I hope Jaff and I can make it to DaughterFest next Friday in Sonoma – we will see how my mom is doing before making any decisions on that. To top it off, I forgot my phone – again, and Ariels lunch!

I’m on my way home to feed us both, do a little laundry and get my phone. Must clear head!

I’m Losing It!

I can’t believe I forgot Ariels Vet appointment at CCI this morning! I even called and confirmed yesterday and then today I’m sitting at my desk thinking “Am I forgetting something?” YES!!!! I jump up and run out of the office with Ariel, manage to forget my phone so I can’t call them and tell them I’m late. I feel like such an idiot. I need a break, a big one;)

Will they follow the law?

Found out that the Animal Regulation officer had a little visit with the idiots down the road. I am hoping they now have a new religion regarding their unmanageable dog;) We are going to take the walk tonight and see what happens. If that dog is loose we were told to call right away. I have this feeling that they were not very cooperative with the officer. Again, idiots of the highest order.

Stupid People and their Dogs

Yesterday morning I took Ariel for a walk down our quiet country road. It’s about 3 miles round trip. There has been an on going problem with a couple who lives on this road where they do nothing to control their dog. It roams around free all day. Every time we come up to the house it runs down, jumps on me and my dogs, causes all kinds of leash problems and follows us to the end of the road and back. I am beginning to hate that dog. It was cute when it was a puppy, but now it’s a gangly year old with no manners whatsoever. I used to return it to them and they never even knew it was missing! Idiots. The owners are totally clueless. Yesterday was the last straw for me. As the dog charged down on us I started yelling for it to go home, get back etc. The dog totally ignored my demands and chased us down the road. The owners came out of the house and I yelled to them to please leash their dog or put it in the house. It bothers us every time we walk the road. Their response was that they lived on 100 acres of private property and she could go wherever she wanted. I was so pissed I just kept walking and she kept talking – have no idea what she was saying, but it wasn’t an apology that’s for sure. I was so hot with anger that I walked up the last hill at record speed! On my way back I had to pass by the house yet again. Here comes the dog again. I tell it to get back, here comes the male owner down from the house. I say to him he needs to control his dog, she is a problem for people walking on the road. He says it ’s private property. I said the road is not and I live on this road, control your animal. He says she is free to wander and escort people and dogs she meets down the road. I said not this dog. God I was MAD!!!! he could not even get the dog to come to him. She is a totally out of control animal.

I called Rob farther out and ranted about the whole thing. Next thing we did was go down to the animal shelter and filed a complaint. There is a leash law and the dog is not supposed to be running free. I can’t wait till they get nailed. If they don’t make an effort we have the number of their landlord and I would love to use it. Stupid people! They have ruined that road.
