Good Luck Mr. President

I am so pleased. I woke up this morning without that black cloud of political dread over my head. This country finally did something right and will hopefully continue to do so. It’s hard to be a moderate – you can identify with both sides, they both have some good ideas. However this time around it was clear that there needed to be a change – a huge change. And people finally had the guts to do it.

R and I watched the acceptance speech last night. We missed most of the returns because we were at puppy class, but I gotta say, as much as I hate politics and pretty much avoid listening to anything politicians have to say (I read, can’t stand to watch) I was moved. I was impressed with his message. R and I actually had tears in our eyes – shocking – especially for me. I said – “This is better than the Olympics. This is history and we are watching it live. I really feel like I’m being included in something hugely important for once.” I felt proud, maybe this country can actually pull itself back together with this new leadership. It’s not a bunch of old white men in Washington any more. Yes. I also thought McCain’s concession speech was very gracious and fair. He’s a decent kind of guy – but he had the same old message – and of course that crazy for his VP. Ugh.

Good luck Mr. President, most of us are behind you, but you are going to have to work your ass off. Not a job for the timid or weak. God’s speed.

And might I just add – THANK GOD SARAH PALIN IS GOING HOME TO BE A GRANDMOTHER!!! Don’t let the screen door hit you in the ass!

Rain. Yes!

Heck of a lot of rain today! Finally. At times it seemed like someone was throwing buckets full, BIG buckets full of water at my window, Even Betsy couldn’t take her eyes off of the window! What makes me crazy though is that every fall they come and wash our windows… right before the rains start – where is the logic in that? they were just here last Tuesday for God’s sakes. What a waste of money not to mention time. Oh brother.

Well tomorrow is the big day. Glad I voted 3 weeks ago. If that Palin person becomes VP I am just going to give up on this poor country. Vote for the better man, Obama.

Voting Early

R and I always have to vote absentee ballot as there is no voting precinct for us because we live in the middle of nowhere. We don’t really live in the middle of nowhere, the registrar of voters just thinks we do;) So I sent my ballot in two weeks ago! Yipee! I’m done and now I just can’t wait for this whole messy, bloody campaign to be over with and whoever wins gets back to the job of FIXING this mess that the last 8 years of Bush crap has brought upon us. So many businesses have been hit very heavily by this recession. I know a business owner that has had to cut his one employees time in half. Very hard for everyone involved. Cash flow is down, people can’t or don’t pay their bills… it’s a very scary time.

I personally, within the confines of my work, have not seen a change – yet. I’m sure it will happen eventually. It’s bound to. We were trying to think of ways to not spend so much money on silly stuff and well, sniff, I cancelled all my wine club memberships. It was great while it lasted but just a little too extravagant at this time. Boo hoo, I will still go tasting when friends visit though;) And maybe someday join again. I would rather give money to a special charity than just drink it all away anyway. Priorities you know;)

The SNL Parodies

We watched Saturday Night Live this last weekend to see the spoof the Sarah Palin was supposed to be making of herself and Tina Fey – wasn’t really that funny – I couldn’t even remember it and had to watch it on You Tube again. Not very funny at all and kind of disappointing. Poop. The other ones have alll been so great.

Not much to tell…

Not much happening these last couple of days. Lemon Drop continues to improve, George is still a bastard, Pixel is a fatty and Chelsea is unfortunately at the bottom of the pack now. I think she probably liked it better when she was an only child;)

I’ve been reading a few blogs lately and fell upon this one – supposedly written by an 82 year old woman. She dislikes Sarah Palin even more than I do, and that’s saying something! Really entertaining reading. For all the nastiness and greed of politics you gotta admit it can be very entertaining at times.

Jaffray called today and said she got 100% on her math midterm. Wow! That’s fantastic! Rob and I are very impressed and proud of her. Getting 100% on a math test is something I doubt I ever did. Go Jaff!
